Wood-Decay Fungi Fructifying in Mediterranean Deciduous Oak Forests: A Community Composition, Richness and Productivity Study

چکیده
Deadwood is involved in several important ecological roles, being the fundamental habitat of wood-decay fungi. At same time, this polyphyletic group fungi principal agent wood decomposition, regulating carbon cycle and food resource for many other organisms. It known that diversity community composition are related to tree species, decay stage size woody debris which they living. Nevertheless, there a lack information on Mediterranean Quercus cerris L. forests. In response, we explored how colonize different types productivity, richness these influenced by deadwood. Our results indicate studied groups, i.e., Ascomycetes, Corticioids, Polyporoids Heterobasidiomycetes responded differently classes. Moreover, note high importance smaller soft-decayed richness, hosting great number addition positive effect heterogeneity productivity.

Conifer introductions decrease richness and alter composition of litter-dwelling beetles (Coleoptera) in Carpathian oak forests
Original oak (Quercus) forests in the southwestern Carpathian Mountains, Slovakia, were replaced by non-forest cover or managed stands often containing introduced non-native tree species. We compared the composition, richness, and abundance of litter-dwelling beetle (Coleoptera) communities in 30 stands across three management types: (i) reserved stands that most closely approximate the pre-cle...
متن کاملTree seedling richness, but not neighborhood composition, influences insect herbivory in a temperate deciduous forest community
Insect herbivores can serve as important regulators of plant dynamics, but their impacts in temperate forest understories have received minimal attention at local scales. Here, we test several related hypotheses about the influence of plant neighborhood composition on insect leaf damage in southwestern Pennsylvania, USA. Using data on seedlings and adult trees sampled at 36 sites over an approx...

متن کاملEstimating epiphytic lichen richness by single families in Mediterranean forests
The current trend of declining epiphytic richness caused by human activities (forest fragmentation, logging , agriculture, and livestock grazing) and the greater efforts required to sample and identify the most inconspicuous species have necessitated the use of indicators of the species richness. In this study, we examined the potential of predicting epiphytic lichen richness based on the richn...
